How to delete your BUOKO account
Option 1: in the app
- Open BUOKO and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Delete my account.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted straight away.
Option 2: by email
- From your BUOKO address, send an email to [email protected].
- Use the subject "Delete my account". You don't need to give a reason.
- We'll confirm by replying to your BUOKO address and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner.
We ask you to write from the account's own address so we know the request is really from you. If you can't sign in, use your recovery codes first, or write to us and we'll help.
Before you delete
- Deleting is permanent. We can't bring back your mail afterwards.
- Save what you need. Download important emails first, for example by connecting an app like Apple Mail or Thunderbird.
- Update other accounts. Move any website logins and password resets that use your BUOKO address to another email address, because you won't be able to receive mail there again.
What we delete
- Your mailbox: all emails, attachments and folders.
- Your account data: password hash, aliases, settings and optional backup email.
- Your recovery codes.
What we keep
- The retired address name. We keep the address itself on a blocked list forever, so it's never given to anyone else. Old addresses still receive things like password resets for other accounts, and we won't let a stranger receive yours. No mail or other data is kept with it.
- Minimal server logs, for up to 30 days, to keep BUOKO secure. They're then deleted automatically.
